Just me noodling around with the tones on the NUX Ace of Tone! Really happy with the variety of drives on this pedal. In the left corner we have the NUX Tubeman overdrive, which is based on the Tube Screamer. This channel has a boost function. In the right corner we have the NUX Morning Star, which is based on the iconic Marshall Bluesbreaker. This channel also has a shimmer function. You can l...
Candy Girl - Fiddle and Banjo
Просмотров 2062 года назад
Candy Girl is an old time fiddle tune. Uncle Bunt Stephens recorded this almost a hundred years ago, 1926 to be exact. His version was in A. This is my rendition in G, with Banjo accompaniment #fiddle If you enjoyed this video, please consider making a donation TIP JAR - Paypal: shorturl.at/cyWX1
Siembamba
If you enjoyed this video, please consider making a donation TIP JAR - Paypal: shorturl.at/cyWX1

what tuning is this song played in?
@@GIR__ gCGCD
That's really cool, I play banjo and I could barely play dueling banjos non the less play it clawhammer.
Is that dead leaves and the dirty ground?
Yeah!
Awesome job, only version I've found where I can see the chords, thanks
I don’t know who ever said TJ was a good fiddler? I have never thought he was good at all. Sorry to say and not trying to be ugly or mean spirited either! Hurts my ears. 🤷🏽♀️
me, i said hes a good fiddler
and who gave you that video? Video of a Georg Adam Gutter violin that was in Fairfax County in Virginia, USA?
The silence ❤
Excellent fiddlers have played 'Old Masters" instruments, and remarked that they have outstanding musical potential, but are not "forgiving". A person must be an accomplished musician to make these instrument sound great. Violins, like other stringed instruments, sound best when played often. Museums pay professional fidders to periodicalt play their instruments. Creating undesired sound on a fiddle/violin is not difficult.
Much love from the Appalachians! Great work on this tune, excellent rendition!
Any violin will sound crap if you play it like that
Big tune Christo
Turn the banjo up a bit 👍
He said would give $10 for that old fiddle, he is a master and probably right.
Very nicely played!
Both the lyrics and melody is similar to the American song ‘Sweet Ellie Rhee’. Mineworkers from Tennessee brought the song to the Old Transvaal (Zuid Afrikaansche Republiek). After the Anglo Boer War French and Russian attachés with the boers took it back to their respective home countries. The French foren legion has a version and the Russians has a version called Red Marines.
Die deelname van Russe in die Vryheids oorlog is vir my baie interesant
Ever classical violinist: Grinding teeth in pain. Every folk fiddler: YOOOO!!! play that fiddle.
I also learned on a violin with a bridge modified for fiddling, not one of those Strads. It's flattened out a bit more to make the transition between strings a lot faster and smoother. Ain't gotta move your arm up n down as much!
Wait?..... Why the violin is tuned differently???? Can someone answer??
many old-time fiddle songs are played on different tunings. It's easier to play the song that way and it makes the fiddle resonate in the chord of the song
@@FamousJerkey thank u
Stradivarius wouldn't have been impressed with Tommy Jarrel either, who sounds quite rough on this exquisite instrument.
I'm sure. Then ol dude would have a partner in whipping the hell out of old Strad lol
& a happy festive season to you, lovely tune.xxxx
Thanks Jules, same to you 🎉
Thank you so much for this 😭 I’m originally from South Africa, Growing up my great grandmother would tell me stories about her husband who fought in the boer war and she would often tell me stories about the way her and her sisters were treated in the concentration camps by the British during the war, she used to sing this song to as a baby. And she always reminded me if I was ever down or feeling low I should remember where I came from and the fighting spirit (The took on the British empire and nearly brought it to it’s knees) lives within me because I am a boerseun “son of a boer” so again thank you god bless 💚
Tommy Jarrell's 🎻fiddle should be in a museum right next to Strativarius...Equally the same IMPORTANT
you're playing that banjo like a pro.
Do you know the difference between a violin and a fiddle? A violin has four strings. A fiddle has four strangs.
Once beer has gotten on it a violin becomes a fiddle.
I believe you mean "faw strangs".
@@joshz8803 If jizz gets on it then it becomes a diddle.
@@JohnSmith-ki2eq Right you are!
Cotton eye Joe on a strat, now I've heard everything.
It's like putting a flathead V8 in a lambo . Legens are made not bought
Hell, I wasn’t impressed neither. Sounded like a shitivarius to me. No offense.
That is because the player can't play!
@@Shoshun2 that's ridiculous. Jarrell was an excellent fiddler.
You sound great! Keep up the good work!
Yeah yeah nice fiddling bro
Very nice. Thank you!!!
I'll give 10 dollar for that fiddle....lmao!!
He said he gave 10 dollars for his own in 1915.
Waar kan ek dit leer op die guitar🤣

A Ferrari is awesome to look at and drive on a smooth highway but not on a muddy mountain road.
Cool image dude
good comparison. you just don’t get those low droning growls a nice round mountain fiddle can catch.
Poignant! My first song on guitar playing Yuke chords 1963 .. '.. bring my 'trug ..'
Beautiful, great tune
<3
Great job!
Good 👍
I would take Tommy's fiddle over a Stradivarius any day of the week.
Superb Des ! Loved it
Awesome! Love your authentic style!
I heard this story for years while growing up in Mount Airy. Thanks for sharing the actual video
Very well done
Love that guy.
there is no possible way to play the way he does on a classically set up fiddle.
Winter Quarters You can. Just like Tommy, I cannot play anyone else's fiddle because I am use to the feel of mine. Hell, I can barely play my second fiddle because it feels so different from my old one.
Poor old Tom ain't used to the gut strings
Nice one mate.
